The
2008 Staten Island Yankees season begins this year on June 17, a little
less then two weeks after the First-Year Player Draft which is scheduled
for June 5. This year Staten Island Yankees expect record crowds to
pass through the gates at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark and those
who do are expected to get to see the future Yankee stars take the
field.

Trenton right-handed pitcher, Jason Jones is having a
phenomenal start, better than anyone would have predicted. "A lot of
the credit has to go to our pitching coach, Scott Aldred," Jones
said. "As a staff, he always has us meet together, and have a proper
game plan going in." So far this season Jason Jones has the least
amount of earned runs in the Trenton rotation.

Yesterday afternoon the Staten Island Yankees Booster Club held
their first ever bus trip to see the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
in action at PNC Field. Upon arriving at the home of the Triple-A
Yankees the Baby Bomber faithful were treated to a spectacular
surprise. Former Staten Island Yankee outfielder Matt Carson was
called up and was in the lineup for Scranton.

Pat
McMahon will be taking over as the new skipper of the Staten Island
Yankees
In
September of 2007 the New York Yankees made a move in their player
development department. That move was hiring former college head
coach Pat McMahon as the new Special Assistant for Player
Development and Scouting. In addition to his duties in Player
Development, Mr. McMahon will be taking over the reigns as skipper
of the Staten Island Yankees.
