Mullenweg launched WordPress when he was only 19 and gave a new dimension to blogging. Matt Mullenweg is an Open source enthusiast, the founder and lead developer of WordPress. It was Matt’s amazing skills that made it simple for everyone to publish their thoughts on internet. Matt Mullenweg, or Matthew Charles Mullenwerg, was born on January 11, 1984 in Houston, Texas.

Initially, Matt used to do consulting but after moving to San Francisco he joined CNET Networks. But he quit his job CNET and then dedicated his time for developing many open source projects. In 2002, while on a trip to Washington D.C, he started using the blogging softwareb2/cafelog to accompany his trip photos and also contributes with some small codes regarding cleaner permalinks and typographic entities.

After no further development in the b2 software, he decided to take matters in his hands and update it according to the web standards. So in 2003, from b2 codebase, Matt Mullenwerg and Mile Little started a revolution, Wordpress!

 

In 2007, PC World ranked Matt Mullenweg on the number 15 position for the category of Most Important People on the Web. As per 2010, his net worth was a whopping $40 millions! By July 2011, WordPress had reached to 50 million websites. WordPress powers almost 14% of websites in the world with more than 280 million users and all this because of the genius young mind,Matt Mullenweg.
