There are many young internet tycoons who are making changes in the technology at their early age. Chris Poole is one is them who started his own website ‘4chan’ at the age of 15.
Chris Poole is one of the most influential personalities on the internet. 4chan is a simple online community, where anyone can post pictures. For long time, he kept 4chan in secret from his parents because of some adult content. Chris was also known as ‘moot’, but his real identity, as Christopher Poole, was revealed on July 9, 2008, in the Wall Street Journal. He was 'moot' online and for his family and in school he was Chris.
Chris founded 4chan at the age of 15 as a space for himself and his friends where they could talk about manga and anime. He founded 4chan in 2003, targeting people who are interested in Japanese Culture, anime and cartoons. Today, his 4chan is having more than 12 million users and it boasts 600 million page views every month.
Chris Poole has also featured as a speaker at the TED conference. Along with this, he has been profiled by Technology Review, CNN, The Washington Post and TIME. He is also a member of Free Art and Technology Lab.
Recently he has started a new project – Canv.as, which is working on new and better ways for people to collaborate and hang out online. He is applying all those lessons he has learned from 4chan to develop his new project Canv.as. In addition, Chris advises at Lerer Ventures which is a seed fund.
