Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

You must have heard about vampire. The first thing that strikes your mind after hearing the word, “vampire”, may be a strange creature which just sinks its teeth into the flesh, fangs, blood, darkness, black and red capes. These are probably few characters of vampires, but who knows that they are right or wrong? Just ask Amelia-Rhodes, an author of a young adult literature whose name was mentioned in “Twenty Teens Who Will Change the World”. Amelia may not be a teenager anymore, but she loves to write about vampires.

‘In the Forests of the Night’ was her first novel which was published when she was just 13 years old. She was featured in the publications such as The New Yorker, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly and Seventeen. She has also appeared on CBS This Morning and The Rosie O' Donnell Show. Her second novel named as ‘Demon in My View’, was published at the age of 15.

Amelia born on 16th April 1984, in Maryland and soon moved to Massachusetts, where she lived most of her life. As a child, Amelia read Anne rice and Stephen King, dabbling her mind into the world of vampires and witchcraft. She started writing science-fiction in the second grade.

By the time middle school rolled around, Amelia had many different versions of vampire stories. She really dreamt of publishing, but she had no idea that her dream will be turned into reality so fast. Her English teacher of the middle school heard from a school girl that Amelia was trying to get a book published. The teacher requested Amelia to read the story she was writing as that time. Fortunately, he was also a literary agent who liked her story very much and decided to represent her. Amelia received a phone call on her 14th birthday from her agent that Bantam Doubleday Dell is ready to publish her book. The title of the book was ‘White Wine’ before ‘In the Forests of the Night’. After a few months of the publication of her book, In the Forests of the Night sold more than 50,000 copies. According to her agent, her debut novel was the easiest sale he ever had. After that she wrote a whole series of books on the vampire stories, with few books adapted into audio on books.

There is no doubt that Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is a prolific, talented, young writer whose imagination to craft depth descriptions of a world never seen by anyone is consistently growing.
