Yanks Win, Pull Close to Division Title
Yanks beat Tri-City in opening game
of the final regular season series

September 6, 2007 – It was another beautiful night at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark
as the Staten Island Yankees faced off with the Tri-City Valley Cats in
the middle game of a season ending three game set.
Ryan Pope got the start
for the bombers, pitching 1 inning before being lifted in favor of Chris
Farley. Pope will be starting game 1 in the playoffs this Sunday.
Farley went 4 innings, striking out 4 innings. Jason Kiley returned
from his suspension to start the sixth inning for the Bombers. Yankee
pitching allowed no runs on 8 hits in the game.
The Staten Island Yankees
came into the sixth inning trailing by 3 runs to the last place Valley
Cats, but with 2-outs the Yankees tied the game. Matt Morris led the
inning off with a triple to right and scored on a ground out by Justin
Snyder. Taylor Holiday walked with 1 out and after Brian Chavez flew
out to left, Braedyn Pruitt hit a shock to right field to tie it up at
3.
The Baby Bombers scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning.
Taylor Holiday walked to lead off the inning and came home a 1-out
single to center by Braedyn Pruitt.
Jonathan Ortiz got the win for the baby bombers, his fifth of the
season.
Tri-City and Staten Island will meet up tomorrow night with Zach
McAllister taking the mound for an inning.
