September 6, 2007 – It was another beautiful night at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark as the Staten Island Yankees faced off with the Tri-City Valley Cats in the middle game of a season ending three game set.

Ryan Pope got the start for the bombers, pitching 1 inning before being lifted in favor of Chris Farley.  Pope will be starting game 1 in the playoffs this Sunday.  Farley went 4 innings, striking out 4 innings.  Jason Kiley returned from his suspension to start the sixth inning for the Bombers.  Yankee pitching allowed no runs on 8 hits in the game.

The Staten Island Yankees came into the sixth inning trailing by 3 runs to the last place Valley Cats, but with 2-outs the Yankees tied the game.  Matt Morris led the inning off with a triple to right and scored on a ground out by Justin Snyder.  Taylor Holiday walked with 1 out and after Brian Chavez flew out to left, Braedyn Pruitt hit a shock to right field to tie it up at 3.

The Baby Bombers scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning.  Taylor Holiday walked to lead off the inning and came home a 1-out single to center by Braedyn Pruitt.

Jonathan Ortiz got the win for the baby bombers, his fifth of the season.

Tri-City and Staten Island will meet up tomorrow night with Zach McAllister taking the mound for an inning.
