July 26, 2007 – The Staten Island Yankees were defeated by the Wild Card leading Oneonta Tigers in the final game of a three game set.  Jason Kiley took the loss for the bombers, after pitching three innings and giving up two earned runs, to raise his ERA to over five.

Staten Island was the first to score, playing one run in the top of the first.  Justin Snyder led off the first with a ground ball single to center and then advanced to second with one out on a balk.  After Damon Sublett struck out, Braedyn Pruitt smacked a RBI single to right, giving the bombers a 1-0 lead.

Austin Krum led off the second inning for the bombers, earning a walk but was later erased when Luis Nunez belted into a force play.  Jose Gil was next at the plate and he proceeded to smack his sixth double of the year while plating Nunez.  Gil would later go on to hit double number seven in the fourth and number eight in the sixth.

The Yankees lead did not last much longer, as the bombers fell behind the Tigers in the bottom of the second.  Yankees starter Chris Farley allowed a lead off homerun to Casper Wells.  After Michael Sullivan singled, Christopher Carlson doubled to drive him in.  After a wild pitch allowed Carlson to move to third, Cory Middleton knocked a triple to centerfield.  Farley then induced a fly out to center and then Kyle Peter hit into a fielders choice with Middleton out at the plate.  Peter would then steal second and Justin Henry would be hit by the pitch before Kody Kaiser was punched out on strikes.  Farley pitched just four innings and gave up three runs in the contest while striking out four.

The bombers would plate their third and final run in the fourth inning.  After Jose Gil doubled and advanced to third on a passed ball Isaiah Howes struck out, the Justin Snyder hit into a RBI ground out.  Oneonta will take the lead in the seventh when Justin Henry led off with a double and Kody Kaiser walked.  A sac bun by Ron Bourquin moved the runners over for Casper Wells to hit a sacrifice fly to left.  A double by Jorge Patino would plate Kaiser and give the Tigers a 5-3 lead.

Staten Island left nine men on base in the contest, four of them being in scoring position and two outs.  The Yankees committed just one error and had one wild pitch.  The Staten Island Yankees will now head to Troy, NY to take on the Tri-City Valley Cats in a three game set.  Zach McAllister will start the series, looking for his third win of the year.

The Yankees and Tigers will meet again this Monday when they kick off a three game set at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
