August 6, 2007 – The Staten Island Yankees defeated the Hudson Valley Renegades in the final game of a brief 2-game set for the team’s first sweep of the season.  The win keeps the Yankees in the lead for the wild card and moved them to 4 games behind the Brooklyn Cyclones for the McNamara Division.

Chris Farley started the game for the Staten Island Yankees, making his fourth start for the Baby Bombers.  Farley did not have his best stuff allowing 4 runs in 5 innings; he did however strike out 5 batters.  Hudson Valley took the early lead in the first inning, plating 3 and then added 1 more in the second.

Staten Island plated a run in their half of the inning, after Justin Snyder walked to start the inning, Taylor Holiday and Damon Sublett belted back-to-back singles to load the bases.  With one out Jose Gil knocked a sacrifice fly to left field, playing Snyder and giving the bombers their first run.

The Yankees plated one more in the second to cut the lead to 2, Austin Krum led the inning off with a double to centerfield and came home to score on a Justin Snyder single.  Staten Island plated a single run in the fifth inning to cut the led to just 1 run.  After Taylor Holiday led off with a ground ruled double to center, the Yankees got two consecutive outs before Jose Gil smacked an RBI single to center.

Justin Snyder came up to the plate in the ninth inning with 1 out and tied the game with one swing of the bat.  Snyder’s homerun was his fifth on the year, tying Jose Gil for the team lead.  Damon Sublett belted a ball back to the pitcher, but an error allowed him to reach first with 2 outs.  Braedyn Pruitt then doubled to right center to score the game winning run.

Nick Chigges came in to relieve Farley in the sixth inning; Chigges pitched 3.0 innings of 1-hit ball and allowed no walks.  Jason Kiley took over in the ninth and pitched to 4 batters, allowing no runs.  The Yankees pitching staff did not allow a run to score after the second inning.
