August 1,
2007 – It was a
beautiful evening at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark as the
Oneonta Tigers and the Staten Island Yankees took the field
against each other for the last time in the regular season.
Zach McAllister got the start for the Baby
Bombers, pitching four innings of one run ball. McAllister
allowed five hits while striking out four on 79 pitches. The
one run came in the top of the third inning with two outs on the
board. Justin Henry singled to left and then stole second, a
Ron Bourquin double allowed him to score and plate the first run
of the game.
Jose Gil tied the game on one swing of the bat
in the bottom of the sixth inning when he belted a line drive
over the left field fence for his fourth homerun of the season.
On the very next pitch, Austin Krum then knocked a triple to
triple and scored when Jose Fragoso balked giving the Yankees a
2-1 lead.
The Tigers tied the game in the top of the
seventh after Philip Bartleski allowed two runners to reach and
Kyle Hollander gave up a base hit. The bombers would threaten
in their half of the inning, when with one out they had man on
first and second but a force out and ground out to second ended
the inning.
The game would remained deadlocked until the
tenth inning when on the first pitch by Jeff Livek, Casper Wells
belted a long line drive over the left field fence and Kody
Kaiser launched a shot over the right-centerfield wall for
back-to-back jacks.
Taylor Holiday, Damon Sublett, Braedyn Pruitt,
and Isaiah Howes all had a multi-hit night but the bombers left
thirteen men on the bases. Tomorrow night Ryan Zink would take
the mound against the Lowell Spinners.
Notes:
Former Baby Bomber Shelley Duncan knocked his fifth major league
homerun. Tomorrow night the Staten Island Yankees will start a
three game home series with the Lowell Spinners. Friday night
is sold out and Saturday night is Robinson Cano night.
